Weighing just 5.5kg, the MS 400.1 is 300g lighter than its predecessor and yet still delivers a powerful 3.9 kW output, providing unmatched efficiency and performance. With a torque of 4.3 Nm—a noticeable improvement over the MS 400’s 4.1 Nm—this chainsaw offers enhanced cutting power, especially in heavy timber, with reduced risk of bogging down under pressure.
Equipped with advanced STIHL M-Tronic engine management, the MS 400.1 C-M ensures easy starting, quick acceleration, and consistent performance in all conditions. The magnesium flywheel and redesigned muffler contribute to better cooling and improved durability during extended use.
For comfort and control, the rear handle geometry has been redesigned for better ergonomics, and the widened handle end offers more stability during plunge cuts. A compact body and improved balance make this saw extremely easy to handle, especially during long hours of felling, delimbing, and wood preparation.
Additional professional-grade features include a new HD2 air filter for maximum dust protection, reduced maintenance, and longer service life. The underside features a rib pattern that prevents snagging on bark and branches during snedding, improving efficiency in the field.
The petrol tank features a 50% fuel level marker, giving you quick insight into remaining fuel and helping manage consumption. An improved design allows easier access to the oil pump control bolt, making it simple to adjust oil flow on the job with a standard combi-spanner.

This product is available for delivery within the UK and NI. We use various National couriers and stock products are usually dispatched within 2 working days after receipt of order. Product will arrive boxed and require basic assembly, fuel, oil, etc.
Shipping rates vary according to location, size, weight and type of product.
Local Collection is available on all products from one of our depots in Exebridge – Somerset, Chudleigh – Devon or St.Columb in Cornwall.
If collecting, we can also offer you our Essential Care Package. Where we can fully setup and assemble the product for you. This will include the addition of fuel and oil, etc. We can also offer a full handover with basic product training, and advice on use and maintenance.
